About The Barre Social Club
Ever noticed how the best conversations never happen in a conference room? That's what sparked this whole thing.
When we moved to Barre in 2022 and bought our first house, we fell hard for this town. But we missed having a third space - not home, not work, but somewhere else where interesting people gathered. So we made one.
The Barre Social Club is our attempt to put down roots and create the gathering spot we kept looking for in every city we've called home. A Vermont coworking space that doesn't feel corporate. A place where community happens naturally.
The Faces Behind This Place
Nick handles daily operations with a decade of remote work under his belt. He's worked from home offices, libraries, coffee shops, and random coworking spaces across the country. Before embracing laptop life, he worked for a professional baseball team, ran gameday events, taught middle school, and even coached high school football. He knows what makes a good workspace because he's worked in plenty of bad ones.
Cat brings two years of remote work experience plus a decade in government software consulting. With additional background in banking, marketing, and advertising, she shapes our space with an eye for what actually works versus what just looks good on Instagram. She's the reason our remote work space feels so intentional.
Our Take on Community
We're not trying to build an empire here. Unlike typical businesses, we both kept our regular careers and run this coworking Vermont location as a passion project. We're fortunate in that we don't have to take salaries from it; we just want the club to thrive while serving Barre.
A few things that make us different:
- We're staying put: Focused entirely on Barre and surrounding communities. No plans to expand to every corner of Vermont or beyond.
- We're flexible: Our space shifts between workday productivity hub and evening event venue without missing a beat.
- We're invested: We could live and work from anywhere, but we chose Barre. This city is our home, and the club is our commitment to it.
Our 2,900 square foot space houses a 900 square foot flexible event area, meeting rooms, and coworking zones, each designed for both focused work and natural interaction. From morning coffee meetups to corporate sessions to movie nights, we've created a Vermont venue that adapts to what the community needs.
