Closed Labor Day Weekend, Plans for Fall
Happy Monday!
A few items to note before we get into the calendar:
- Last week, a few members told us they responded directly to the previous newsletter and didn’t receive anything back from us. If you have any questions or comments about this or future newsletters, please email barresocialclub@gmail.com and we’ll get back to you ASAP. (It’s certainly possible we missed those messages because we aren’t used to navigating Substack compared to the previous newsletter system, but we didn’t see anything on our end).
- Cat and Nick sat down this weekend to look at the fall schedule, and added a lot of events. We’re still working on some of the details, but we’ve got monthly wine tastings, various workshops, and dinner events in the works!
- One of those events is an open call to the community we’re calling “Your People Are Out There!” On Friday October 23, we’re inviting fraternal, social, and service groups to set up a station so folks can stop by, learn what they’re about, and maybe find their next place to belong. We’ll have the bar open, plus games outside, weather permitting. Are you part of a group that would like to be represented? Email us: barresocialclub@gmail.com

Corporate Meeting
Wednesday September 2, 9am-2pm
The back room will be in use for two meetings from 9am to 2pm Wednesday. Members and guests please be prepared to use the front entrance during this time.
Movie Night, Remember the Titans*
Wednesday September 2, 6:30pm
Join us at 6:30pm for the 2000 hit Remember the Titans, starring Denzel Washington, Will Patton, Donald Faison, Wood Harris, Ryan Gosling and Hayden Panettiere. Free for members, guest passes available. Popcorn, tea, coffee and water provided with other items available for purchase.
The Singer’s Room*
Thursday September 3, 6pm
The Singer’s Room returns in September to offer curated vocal artistry in laid-back cabaret style. Once again, the intimate Barre Social Club will host an evening where individual singers can stretch out artistically with a live accompanist — and where audiences can truly listen.
Held on the first Thursday of every month, The Singer’s Room invites music lovers to enjoy good singing in a room that’s conducive to nuance, storytelling, and connection. The September 3rd program features a diverse line-up of rotating local and regional performers: your hosts John Harrison and Maggie Fox, along with Kris Karge, and Hilary Kissel. David Gibson on keys.
Admission is $5 at the door for nonmembers. Beer and wine will be available for purchase, and you’re welcome to bring in something to eat from one of Barre’s great take-aways.
