Club News, This Week's Event Calendar: Valentine's Day Brunch & More

houseThe Barre Social Club Feb 9, 2026

Happy Monday! If you’re feeling a bit groggy this morning, you’re not alone. But we’ll shake it off quickly and get back into the swing of things because our event calendar is packed once again this week.

Also, in case it isn't obvious, we kind of stumbled into a bit of an extended social media break recently. And to be honest, we’re not in a big hurry to start scrolling and posting regularly again, so this is definitely the best place to keep up with all our goings on for now.

On that note:

Our hours this week:

Monday Feb. 9: 7am-8pm

Tuesday Feb. 10: 7am-8pm

Wednesday Feb. 11: 7am-8pm

Thursday Feb. 12: 7am-6pm

Friday Feb, 13: 7am-8pm

Saturday Feb. 14: 9am-4pm

Sunday Feb. 15: Closed

This Week’s Event Calendar

The Periodic(al) Readers Club returns at its newer, earlier time. Bring a newspaper or magazine, or borrow one of ours, to read from 4-5pm. For those interested, book report-style discussions will follow from 5-6pm. Starting at 6, our standard quiet reading hours begin.

ViewMasters Film Club, Safe* (1995)**

In addition to our standard movie night, the ViewMasters Film Club reconvenes Friday the 13th (ooh, scary) for Safe, the 1995 psychological drama starring Julianne Moore and Peter Friedman. Stay for a discussion of the film, and to help pick the next one.  Free for members, guest passes available. Popcorn, tea, coffee and water provided with other items available for purchase.

Brunch

Saturday Feb. 14, 10am-1pm

Brunch is open to the public with discounts available for members. Quantities are limited, and service is casual (and usually slow). Bottomless self-serve coffee, tea and water are included with the price of brunch dishes, and other beverages are available for purchase from the bar.

Our not-totally-a-theme-but-kind-of-red-tinted Valentine’s Day menu includes:

  • Butternut squash soup with bacon grilled cheese sandwich (Vegetarian and gluten-free options available)
  • Strawberries and cream baked french toast (VEG)
  • Roasted beet and brie quiche (VEG, GF)
  • Chicken and waffles (GF)
  • Grits (VEG, GF)

Please note, we plan to close a little earlier than usual Saturday afternoon so that Cat and Nick can make our Valentine’s Day reservation on a rare date night. Thank you for your understanding.
