Club News: The Barre Social Club Weekly Newsletter
Hopefully you had a wonderful weekend. We certainly did. Saturday provided us with a great opportunity to see the wide range of ways our members utilize the club: From morning coffee to evening study sessions, and birthdays from six years old to 70.
We’re so thankful we have members who would choose to celebrate something special with us, and also for the flexibility and understanding our members give us when the space has been reserved for one of those events.
On that note, please remember we will be closed this Tuesday, Oct. 21. We’re excited to host an all-day event for a nonprofit group that does great work throughout the state, and truly appreciate your understanding.
Our hours this week:
Monday Oct. 20: 7am-8pm
Tuesday Oct. 21: Closed
Wednesday Oct. 22: 7am-6pm
Thursday Oct. 23: 7am-8pm
Friday Oct. 24: 7am-8pm
Saturday Oct. 25: 10am-6pm
Sunday Oct. 26: Closed

Movie Night, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies***
Thursday Oct. 23, 6:30pm
Also, due to an evening event scheduled after hours Wednesday, we needed to push back one of our more highly anticipated movie nights of the fall season: Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Free for members, guest passes available with popcorn included.
Private Meeting
Friday Oct. 24, 12pm-2pm
There is a meeting scheduled in the back room from 12-2pm Friday that may require additional seating. Members and guests should plan to use the front entrance during this time, thank you!
Friday Night Writes*
Friday Oct. 24, 6-8pm
Working on a writing project? You don’t have to do it alone. Grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine and start a short story, polish your poems, jot in your journal, map out your murder mystery screenplay. Bring dinner, order it in, or go out after to kick off the weekend.
Private Event
Saturday Oct. 18, 12pm-4pm
We will be open for our standard Saturday hours, but the back room is booked from noon to 4pm for an event. Members and guests should plan to use the front entrance during this time, thank you!
Odd Hours
Open 7am to 12pm, and 3pm-8pm (Full space reserved 12pm-3pm)
Monday Oct. 27
Once again, we truly appreciate your flexibility when we have to make adjustments to our schedule, especially when we need to close during our standard hours.
*FREE for members, $5 guest passes available with a member, $10 guest pass for other non-members, bar open for service

ViewMasters Film Club, The Spiral Staircase
Tuesday Oct. 28, 6:30pm
Like a book club without the reading. Outside of our weekly movie nights, those interested in a more specific film club are welcome to join us Tuesday Oct. 28 for our first viewing: The Spiral Staircase.
Set in Vermont in 1906, this 1946 psychological horror film stars Dorothy McGuire, George Brent and Ethel Barrymore. Afterwards, stay for a discussion of the film. Free for members and their guests.
New in the Shop: Kid’s Corner
In addition to events and coworking, The Barre Social Club has a small retail shop featuring products from Vermont-based companies.
New this week, that includes a selection of wooden toys, fuzzy stuffed animals and petite potted seed starters. We’ve also added a few vintage books to the mix.
Looking for a gift? The shop is open to the public during our standard business hours, and members receive 10% off retail purchases.
