Happy Monday!

We’ve got a busy week ahead with a wide range of events on the schedule, and much more to come following the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday next Monday. Therefore, our next newsletter is slated for Tuesday, which just so happens to be the official one-year anniversary of our opening day!

To celebrate, we have an anniversary party scheduled for Feb. 6 (RSVP here for The Barre Social Club Sandwich Anniversary Party, aka Clubs at the Club!). We’re also offering discounted annual memberships through Feb. 1, including Founder’s Club renewals. Read more below, our reach out anytime with questions.

This Week's Event Calendar

Monday is for Readers: Periodic(al) Readers Club* Monday Jan. 12, 4-8pm

By request, the Periodic(al) Readers Club will meet at a new, earlier time today. Bring a newspaper or magazine, or borrow one of ours, to read from 4-5pm. For those interested, book report-style discussions will follow from 5-6pm. Starting at 6, our standard quiet reading hours begin.

LGBTQ+ Story Hour (Admission by donation) Tuesday Jan. 13, 6pm Rainbow Umbrella of Central VT & Rainbow Bridge Community Center present LGBTQ+ Story Hour, hosted by poet Linda Whelan Quinlan. Open to the public. Items will be available for purchase from the bar.

Private Meeting Wednesday Jan. 14, 9:30-11:30am We are scheduled to host a corporate meeting in the back room beginning at 9:30am Wednesday. Members and visitors please prepare to use the front door during this time

Barre Winter Farmers Market Wednesday Jan. 14, 3:30-6:30pm Join us for the first Winter Farmers Market of the year! Shop local vendors, grab fresh goodies, and enjoy the cozy winter vibes as we kick off another great season of markets in Barre. Open to the public. Items will be available for purchase from the bar.

Classic Movie Night, Some Like it Hot* Wednesday Jan. 13, 7pm Following the farmer’s market, we’ll quickly reconfigure the back room for Classic Movie Night. Free for members, guest passes available. Popcorn, tea, coffee and water provided with other items available for purchase.

Friday Night Writes* Friday Jan. 15, 6-8pm Working on a writing project? You don’t have to do it alone. Grab a cup of tea or a glass of wine and start a short story, polish your poems, jot in your journal, or map out your murder mystery screenplay.

Similar to our quiet reading hours on Monday this time is set aside to write casually among other writers, or to participate in a more structured writer’s group, if desired. Bring dinner, order it in, or go out afterwards to kick off the weekend. Items will be available for purchase from the bar.

Brunch Saturday Jan. 17, 10am-1pm Brunch is open to the public with discounts available for members. Quantities are limited, and service is casual (and usually slow). Bottomless self-serve coffee, tea and water are included with the price of brunch dishes, and other beverages are available for purchase from the bar.

Private Event Saturday Jan. 17, 4pm We are scheduled to host a family gathering in the back room beginning at 4pm Saturday. Members and visitors please prepare to use the front door during this time.
